A touch of color
I wanted to add a little more color to Jett's room, so I painted some animals on canvas and hung them on the wall in his room. They turned out okay, although the hippo kind of looks like an anteater...or a giant pumpkin. Whatever! I don't think Jett minds :) My mom and I made the pom-pom balls hanging above the changing table for my baby shower. I love the way they turned out. It was super easy, and Jett likes to look at them while I change his diaper. Who needs to buy an expensive mobile to put above the crib, when you can make your own??

Tissue Paper Wreath
So, I was feeling a little crafty today while Jett was sleeping. He's been sleeping really well during the night and naps [thank goodness}, so I thought I would start on some fun projects. I wanted to make a wreath, but I didn't really have the stuff to make one. Then I was inspired. I found some colorful tissue paper in my linen closet and began cutting out different sizes of circles. I wrapped burlap around my wreath form and began hot glueing the cirlces to the wreath. Then I finished off with a button or scrapbook embellishment. I kind of threw it all together and wasn't sure how it would turn out. I think I like it. I like the pop of turquoise with the tan and white. It was a fun project and super cheap!
J Crew Inspired Pin-- HA!
So I was surfing the many fun crafty blogs that I have saved under my favorites and I came across this cute J Crewesque Pin. That was it, I had to make myself one. Well, it didn't really turn out how the picture showed, but I spent a good chunk of my down time while Jett was sleeping {i totally should have been snoozin' too} to make it. After all that hard work, I have to wear it! I just found stuff lying around to make it... it might have turned out better if I had the same matchy fabric as the example I found. In the example I found, the flower was a lot bigger, and the fabrics were a lot softer. Oh well!

Baby's room
I finally finished Jett's room! It's about time...our caseworker came by yesterday for one of four home visits and it forced me to finish. I have been in a mad rush the last few days getting the hutch put together {pain} and the crib set up {bigger pain}. But I love the way it turned out! I just wish I could paint, the walls kind of disappear amidst all the other color in the room. In a couple of months, Jett will be moving in!

Pottery Barn hutch was a steal for only $50 at the DownEast Furniture Outlet tent sale in Salt Lake City!

I found this super cute hippo shower curtain on a clearance shelf at Target. Another steal for only $6.50. Isn't it so fun as a curtain?? I love that it brings more color into the room.

I {heart} mod podge
I was introduced to mod podge while in Utah for my craft boutique. I can't believe I've never used it before! I am totally hooked and I can't get enough of it. I made a couple of cute frames and I'm wondering what I can do next. Any fun ideas??

The stars aren't aligned exactly, but that's okay, I think it turned out cute!

I made this cute frame for Jetts room {pics of the nursery coming soon!}

Dining Chair Reupholster Project
I have been meaning to reupholster my dining chairs for the longest time. I found some super cute fabric at JoAnn's several months ago and I finally found some time while Jett was sleeping to get to it. I love the way they turned out, and I'm so happy I finally did it. Now that I have fresh bright fabric on my chairs, I don't know how I lived with the chairs before. I reupholstered them a couple of years ago and thought I loved the fabric, but looking back it was so blah. About a year ago I stained the table and painted the chairs antique white. I love it. I like a touch of country here and there {without all the frills that make the look of country look stuffy}! A few months ago someone spilled red soda on one of the chairs so they were totally filthy! I love my table now, and the fabric on the chairs goes so well with the colors in my kitchen/front room. Next project... painting the boring cappuccino end tables in the front room.
